TANCET - Tamilnadu Common Entrance Test
MBA & MCA only in Tamilnadu (Course duration-150hrs)
This is a common entrance test conducted by the Anna University. Any student who aspires to pursue any Master degree program (except few Arts program) has to successfully complete TANCET.
Anna University conducts the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) for admission to MBA, MCA, M.E./M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan programme in Tamil Nadu offered at Universty Departments of Anna University, Chennai, Anna University Coimbatore, Anna University Trichy, Anna University, Tirunelveli, Govt. Engineering, Arts and Science Colleges, Govt. Aided Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges, and Govt. Quota seats in self-financing Engineering and Arts & Science Colleges / standalone Institutions. Apart from these institutes some Universities and Self–Financing Engineering Colleges may also opt to admit the students on the basis of TANCET for their quota of seats. TANCET is not limited to candidates of Tamil Nadu only, but admission will be subject to fulfillment of the eligibility conditions of the admitting authority.
Eligibility Criteria: For admission to the MBA programme through TANCET candidates need to be a graduate in any discipline under the 10+2+3/4 pattern or pass in any degree with 10+3
For admission to the M.C.A. Programme through TANCET candidates should have a Bachelor's degree with mathematics as a core subject at the 12th standard or with mathematics/statistics as one of the subjects at the degree level. A pass in 10+3 (Diploma) + 3 years pattern with Mathematics/Statistics as one of the subjects at the degree level can also appear in the TANCET examinations.
The eligibility conditions for MBA, MCA, M.E./M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan programmes may be some what different in different institutes.
However candidates who are appearing in the final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to appear in the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test 2009.
Obtaining the TANCET Application Form: The TANCET application form can be obtained either in person on payment of Rs. 300/- by cash or D.D. (Rs150 for Tamil Nadu SC/ST candidates) from the co-ordinating centers or selected branches of State Bank of India.
The TANCET application Forms can also be obtained through post by sending a demand draft of Rs. 350/- (Rs. 200/- in case of Tamil Nadu SC/ST candidates) along with a requisition letter and self-addressed slip to the Secretary, TANCET Examination Centre, Anna University Chennai 600 025.
Candidates can also register through Internet by logging on to www.annauniv.edu/tancet2009 For every additional Programme candidates need to enclose an additional demand draft of Rs. 300 (Rs. 150 for Tamil Nadu SC/ST candidates).
TANCET Centres: The Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test will be held at Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem, Trichy, Tirunelveli and Vellore.
